Abengoa Bio-Energy Structures at Madison, IL and West Franklin, IN

These processing plants were constructed to refine ethanol. The complicated processes require conveyor bridges, access and support towers, scales and hoppers, material storage bins, and numerous ancillary facilities. Engineers at Whitten & Borges used several software packages to model, analyze, study and design many of these structures for Agri-Systems, Inc., a Billings, Montana-based company specializing in bulk material handling. For economy, designs were selected so that the same structure could be used at both sites. The projects are under construction and, taken together, will have a total cost of around $170,000,000.
